The Feast
of
FirstFruits
The Feast of First Fruits takes place on the day after the second High Sabbath of the feast of Unleavened bread. (This also happened to be the first day of the new week when Jesus rose)
1 Corinthians 15
20-23: But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at this coming.
Where did the Feast of Firstfruits come from?
When the Israelites finally reached the promised land and they began their first harvest, they brought the first fruits of their harvest to the Lord as an offering.
How does the Feast of Firstfruits represent Jesus?
The Feast of First Fruits is the first biblical harvest and Jesus is the fruit thereof because Jesus was the first one to overcome sin and death. He quite literally rose from the dead on the Feast of Firstfruits.
Food for Firstfruits
This feast is to celebrate the first harvest which was the barley harvest.
Eating foods with barely in it is the only real requirement.
Other recommended foods are…
Corn (this was the other crop harvested at this time)
All kinds of fruit.
The only other important thing to remember during this feast is it was the day Jesus rose again, and as such it should be a joy filled experience. This is also the first day you can eat leavening again and trust me, after a week of trying to avoid it, you will feel relieved and excited to finally be able to eat it again.
