New Year's Day is a pagan Holiday that once again has no biblical roots. According to God, the first month of the year takes place sometime between March and April. New Year's Day falling on January 1st became a Holiday by Julius Caesar when he created the Julian calendar. He chose January 1st as New Year's Day to honor the Roman god Janus which means "door" in Latin. Janus was often depicted with two faces—one looking to the past and the other to the future. He was known as the God of beginnings and passages which is why it made sense to honor him with the beginning of the new year.
To celebrate this holiday the Romans would sacrifice a white bull to ask for protections from their false gods. The high priest would also offer Janus a pie made of flour, cereals, cheese, eggs and olive oil to ask for blessing from this god. The Romans believed that Janus looked backwards into the previous year and forward into the future at the same time. So they would offer sacrifices to him and make promises of good conduct for the coming year. This was the start of what we call our "New Year's Resolutions". And they believed that if they kept their promises during that year that the gods would bless them.
So as you can see, the secular New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are pagan holidays. God has his own New Year's beginning and it's not in January. The first month of the year according to God is sometime between March and April and it holds within that month His first three biblical feasts: Passover, Unleavened Bread, and First Fruits.
Exodus 12:2 (KJV)
This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
Romans 12:2 (KJV)
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
